McDonald's customers cheesed off by lack of key ingredient in mozzarella sticks

Around social media, fast food customers are discovering a fatal flaw in the new item on McDonald's menu.

Mayor McCheese is not going to like this.

Recent McDonald's customers hoping to bite into a stick of mozzarella-filled goodness, thanks to a new item on the fast food chain's McPick 2 promotion menu, are finding a fatal flaw in the snack.

That's because they're discovering there's no cheese inside McDonald's mozzarella cheese sticks!

And they're not keeping quiet, either. Dozens of customers have posted images of the hollowed-out, sad, in-name-only breaded cheese items, like these:

A lack of cheese is not Gouda for business, a fact the chain acknowledged in a statement to the Chicago Tribune.

"We are aware of a low volume of guest concerns about our Mozzarella Cheese Sticks," read the statement. "In these instances, we believe the cheese melted out during the baking process in our kitchens and shouldn't have been served. We apologize to any customers who may have been affected. We are working to fix this in our restaurants."

McD's, we know you're cheddar than this. Please get on the stick and start delivering that ooey-gooey goodness, so we can Edam it all up!
