Falling in love for Justin Pounders and Amy Giberson started as many modern romances do — online — but little did the Florida couple realize they had been an item 30 years before.

Pounders and Giberson, both 33 years old, were looking for love on an online dating site when they found each other.

"I saw Amy and I just was really drawn to her," Pounders told TODAY Saturday.

For her part, Amy said she knew it was meant to be on her first date.

"I've always just wanted to find the person that I felt in my heart you get that feeling," Giberson said. "And when I sat across from Justin at our dinner, I shivered. I just felt it."

But little did the two know, those shivers were not new. The two were actually "sweethearts" in preschool.

The signs were there. Pounders said on their first date that he had a crush on a girl named Amy in preschool, and the two began finding coincidences and mutual friends.

Then one day, Giberson was curious about a scar above Justin's eye.

"I said, 'Oh yeah that happened at good old Sunshine Preschool,'" Pounders said.

It was the same St. Petersburg preschool that Giberson attended.

"He said, 'Babe, I mean we're the same age and we graduated the same year, we had to have been there at the same time,'" Giberson said.

The couple discovered that they were inseparable as 3-year-olds. Justin's mom even dug up an old class photo, where the couple is sitting next to each other.

"I just never in a million years would have imagined that we were like little preschool sweethearts," Pounders said.
