Scottish dad candidly shuts down daughter's request for a boyfriend

John Tierney, a father from Scotland, gave his version of being an overprotective dad when his young daughter said she wanted a boyfriend.

Good luck to the first boy who shows up at the door for a date with the daughter of this Scottish dad.

Taking the notion of being an overprotective dad up a notch, John Tierney from from Blantyre, Scotland, tweeted a video of him bluntly denying a request by his young daughter, Grace, to get a boyfriend.

Tierney's lilting Scottish accent makes the tongue-in-cheek (we hope) threat of broken legs and kidnappings sound almost rational. To anyone taking it too seriously, he later tweeted: "It's a bit of fun. Don't over analyse it!!"

We look forward to hearing about Grace's first date when she's 36.
