The official start of summer is here and Sarah Hyland is certainly ready for it.

The "Modern Family" star kicked off the season with a fiery new hue to match the warmer weather.

It's one of many hair changes for the actress this year, after going noticeably darker to transform into her role of Lisa Houseman (Baby's sister) in the TV remake of "Dirty Dancing."

But once the filming wrapped, it was time for Hyland to kiss those chocolate-brown locks goodbye in favor of something with a bit more spice.

While some stars — like Lea Michele and Emma Stone — go blonder for summer, others like Christina Aguilera, Emma Roberts and now Hyland seem to be turning to sunset hues like deep red or desert rose.

So, why did she opt for red?

According to Hyland's Instagram, notable Hollywood redhead and "Dirty Dancing" co-star, Debra Messing, is the source of inspiration.

In fact, Hyland's deep-red hue is quite similar to the one Messing is sporting as of late.

And while this new auburn color is a different look than we're used to, Hyland may have been destined to go red from the start. Some childhood photos show hints of crimson highlights in her baby locks.
