The Australian newspaper, the Herald Sun, asked a group of parenting and family experts to predict the future trends of parenting and they came up with some rather interesting insights. For example, Mother and Baby magazine editor-in-chief Fiona Baker thinks more parents will be trying to "grow a genius". I think this is already happening. "We're all keen that our children get the best start, but there's a big push on things like teaching your nine-month-old to read. We're in a competitive world -- kids are going to private schools today when their parents never went," she said.Michael Grose, director of Parentingideas, sees more children trying to 'personally develop' themselves (perhaps as a result of feeling pressured to be geniuses?) by focusing on acquiring time management and other achievement skills.
